Kinky Boots
During my work placement as a costume maker, I worked alongside experienced costume makers and supervisors for the Made at Curve production of Kinky Boots. This role predominantly involved embellishing costumes for the 'angels', which required me to work with materials like sequined trims, feather boas and beaded applique pieces. As well as this I also completed a tailoring alteration, applied fastenings and hand sewed labels.
This role was largely independent and utilised my problem-solving skills.
DRESSER
AUB PRODUCTIONS, BOURNEMOUTH
This Happy Breed
As a dresser for AUB's production of This Happy Breed (directed by Sean Aita) I worked alongside costume supervisors, make-up & hair artists and actors to dress for the tech week and four performances. As I had dressed previously on another production, I used my knowledge to ensure that I was efficient and made the actors feel comfortable.
I dressed actors in 1920s and 1930s costumes, with different costumes for each of the nine scenes, and had laundry duties which largely included starching and ironing men’s shirts, as well as mending and resetting a pair of sleeve heads in a ladies dress.

Emilia!
As a dresser for AUB's production of Emilia! (directed by Mumba Dodwell) I worked alongside costume supervisors, make-up & hair artists and actors to dress for the tech week and four performances.
This role involved lacing corsets, quick changes, pre-sets and laundry responsibilities. I adored the sense of community that we created and feel that I was organised and proactive as a dresser.

MENDING

My Fair Lady
During my work placement at the Curve I worked on a variety of costumes from My Fair Lady (directed by Nikolai Foster) whilst the show was in production. I repaired torn seams by hand, darned tights and attached buttons securely. I ensured that all repairs were completed with durability in mind and finished to a professional standard.
